In keeping with the principles and general philosophy of Permaculture, this site is designed like a network.

Every element supports multiple functions, every function is supported by multiple elements. Permaculture is a holistic design philosophy rooted in systems science, so in order to get a meaningful understanding of what that means you will have to jump around a lot between different areas of the website; that’s okay!

We try to include links between pages wherever relevant to help you navigate this interconnected web of ideas, but we are sure to leave some out as we add new content. If you notice a spot where you think a link would be useful, shoot us an email and we’ll add it in!

Don’t worry too much if at first you don’t really understand what permaculture or “systems thinking” are all about;

it takes time to re-train your mind from years of linear-thought conditioning. Just play around with the website, read what you find interesting, and most importantly, have fun with it!

We don’t fully understand what it all means or what we should do either, but we are committed to learning and exploring these ideas for building a better world and sharing what we learn along the way. We are sure that you all have valuable and useful information, be it family traditions, things you learned in school or at work, or just some neat observation you made, and we want to include that here too! You are invited to comment on posts/pages with anything you think is relevant, and we invite you to contact us if there is anything you would like to share with the community.

In time you will begin to see the bigger picture and you’ll start thinking at a “systems level”.

The ways that all these concepts and elements interact will become clear. Before you know it, it will be automatic to see how seemingly unrelated things influence each other and how all things are connected and mutually dependent. Permaculture will become more than some abstract procedure for growing plants; it will become a lens through which you see the world. It is a way of life.

We might not have all the answers yet — rebuilding society to be fair and sustainable is no small task — but we do know the only way to do it is together!
