The Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Carlton Avenue is a vibrant garden within the Southside of Bethlehem. This garden houses many wooden beds that can be purchased at a low rate, multiple no-turn composting bins, a pallet composter, and a toolshed full of free-to-use garden necessities.
The park falls under Lehigh’s South Side Initiative and serves to give locals a place to grow their own food and get outside. Through events such as the annual Rake and Bake, the Lehigh University Community Growers Club works at this garden with a focus on maintenance and environmental sustainability education.
